Synopsis
- This resource from the Paleontological Research Institution provides a collection of leaflets, trifolds, and infographics to cover climate change topics with a focus on New York.
- Students will understand what climate change is, the role of the carbon cycle in climate change, the history of mass extinctions, and how climate change impacts seasons, invasive species, and wildlife in New York.

- Some of the fact sheets, such as the Animals and Climate Change leaflet, may be confusing to read online, and teachers may need to print these ones and put the pages in order.
Differentiation & Implementation
- Teachers can use these fact sheets as introductory readings to prepare students for lessons about various climate-related topics, such as extinctions, the carbon cycle, or invasive species.
- To keep climate change at the forefront of students' minds throughout the year, New York teachers can post and change out the seasonal fact sheets on the wall as the seasons change.
- Teachers can print the trifolds under Science Tidbits for the class to use as an easy, low prep activity where students are split into groups, with each group given one of the trifolds to read, note the important details and main ideas, and share their notes with the rest of the class.
