  • World history teachers could ask students to use their knowledge of history to predict which countries or regions of the world produced the most CO2 emissions from cement in 1750, 1850, 1950, and 2021. After students have made their predictions have them use the map to check their answers. In small groups, students can discuss what surprised them about the data and what did not surprise them about the data.
  • After examining the data in this resource, science classes could watch this video on carbon emissions and cement and discuss whether or not the countries currently producing the highest carbon emissions from cement production could lower the emissions by changing the way they manufacture cement.
