Provided by: NASA |Published on: April 27, 2021
Videos Grades 6-8, 9-12
Synopsis
In this video, climate scientists demonstrate the importance of NASA satellites in improving climate models to predict and record various aspects of climate variables.
Students learn about the importance of developing those climate models to observe how the Earth system works.
Various climate scientists explain how predictions related to climate variables (such as fire seasons, rainfall patterns, and hurricanes) can be observed and predicted as climate models are improved by data from satellites.
This video includes satellite images to help understand the content.
Students will get a clear idea of the importance of NASA's work in launching satellites and coordinating missions.
Additional Prerequisites
Students need to be familiar with satellites imagery and data.
The teacher may need to wait through a commercial to view the video on YouTube.
Differentiation
The teacher could pause the video on each scientists' intervention and discuss their content.
Students could analyze satellite images from around the world to identify various aspects of climate variables.
