Synopsis

  • This article explores how Connecticut forests can be managed sustainably, who manages the forests, and the ability of trees and forests to mitigate climate change.
  • Students will learn that enhancing structural complexity and conserving big trees are two elements of sustainable forest management, policymakers and landowners have a huge say in how forests are managed, and trees and forests mitigate climate change by serving as massive carbon sinks.
